What’s Fermenting?
Join us at La Finka for a series of fermentation gatherings, where we dive into the bubbling world of homemade ferments! It doesn’t matter whether you're a seasoned fermenter or just starting to explore the transformative magic of microbes, join us as we share microbes and learn from each other.
Every month (or twice a month—you decide!), we invite you to bring your own ingredients to start fermenting & share — be it kimchi, sauerkraut, pickles, kombucha, kefir or any fermentable delight. Let’s discover the art and science of fermentation, share favorite recipes, and swap jars of tangy goodness.

What to Bring
- Ingredients you would like to ferment
- Niko Will make a list of everything for a large batch of kimchi we can all share.
- Everyone - Bring anything else you would like to ferment for yourself or to share!
- Jars. More Jars, More Ferments.
- Any starters you might want to share (SCOBYs, kefir grains, sourdoughs, etc.).
- A jar of your homemade fermented food to snack on

No ferment is too small! Whether it's a tried-and-true recipe or a bold new experiment, your contributions are welcome.

Traditional Kimchi - Ref Recipe
Ingredients:
- Napa Cabbage - 6lbs
- Salt - ½ cup
- Water - 2 cups
- Glutinous Rice Flower - 2 TBSP
- Sugar - 2 TBSP
- Daikon - 2 Cups
- Carrots - 1 Cup
- Green Onion - 8
- Asian Chives - 1 cup
- Garlic - ½ cup
- Ginger - 2 tsp
- Onion - 1
- Fish Sauce ½ cup
- Fermented Salted Shrimp - ¼ cup
- GochuGaru - 2 cups
Tricks:
- Blend the porridge
- Pre Chop Cabbage before spicing
