🤝 Community Agreements & Code of Conduct
We care for each other, the land, and the culture we create together.
This page outlines the shared agreements, values, and behavioral expectations for participating in life at La Finka. These are living guidelines—evolving through dialogue, experience, and care.
Core Agreements
1. Practice Respect
- Honor all people, beings, and landscapes.
- Treat differences in identity, background, and perspective as strengths.
- Listen with the intent to understand, not just respond.
2. Consent is Culture
- Ask before taking photos or videos.
- Ask before touching tools, produce, or people.
- If it’s not a “hell yes,” it’s a “no.”
3. Hold the Commons
- Clean up after yourself.
- Leave spaces better than you found them.
- Treat shared tools, land, and structures with care.
4. Communicate Openly
- Be honest and kind.
- If something feels off, bring it to someone you trust.
- Use “I” statements and assume good intent while staying accountable.
5. Decenter Ego, Center the Whole
- Share leadership, rotate roles, and let others shine.
- Be mindful of air time and make space for quiet voices.
- Contribute with humility, knowing that everyone has something to teach.
6. Value All Forms of Labor
- Emotional labor, coordination, documentation, setup, breakdown—all of it counts.
- Acknowledge and thank each other regularly.
🛑 Unacceptable Behavior
We have zero tolerance for:
- Harassment, discrimination, or hate speech
- Unwanted physical contact or invasive behavior
- Destruction of property or ecosystems
- Repeated violation of consent, space, or boundaries
- Intoxicated, aggressive, or unsafe conduct during events
When Conflict Arises
- Try 1-on-1 dialogue first, if safe and appropriate such as Non-Violent Communication
- Use mediation with a neutral third party if needed.
- Bring it to the Core Team if it affects others or cannot be resolved directly.
We aim for restorative resolution, not punishment—but we will set boundaries and ask people to leave if necessary for community wellbeing.
Cultural Practices (Soft Norms)
- “Take space, make space” – balance sharing and listening
- “Document as you go” – add notes, reflections, photos to our vault
- “Harvest the learnings” – reflect after events, projects, and seasons
- “Show up how you can” – participation isn’t one-size-fits-all
Living together regeneratively requires mutual respect, open-heartedness, and collective responsibility. Let’s co-create a culture worth growing in.
