Types of Pumps

Q:: What pumps are needed?
- One with head enough to move water to upper basin in the case of the garden pond. (Circulation — still open, see Project - Test Pond.)
- What kind of solar pumps can operate off a small solar panel for localized drip line. → Now an active build: Project - Pond to Drip Irrigation System. Both 120VAC and 12VDC candidates are on hand; the choice is being resolved by measuring Wh-per-gallon on the bench rather than by spec-sheet comparison. - What pump can move water from junction box to back pond. (Still open.)

Filters

Biological Filter

• Bog filter — recommended approach. Full design reference: Design Ref - Bog Filters (up-flow rock/pebble bed; bog-in-a-barrel + berm maps onto our excavation/waterfall plan). Sizing: filter ≈10% of pond volume, pump ≈6× filter volume, overflow pipe larger than inflow, design the flush port in before digging.
