The Banana Rodeo Science Fair is where curiosity drives experimentation, turning La Finka into a hub for community-driven science and knowledge sharing. This isn’t your traditional science fair ~ it’s a unique space to explore ideas together, tinker with possibilities, and push the boundaries of what’s possible when people come together to collaborate as a community.

With a focus on sustainability, permaculture, and regenerative systems, it invites projects that help us build a better collective future. But let’s be real: this is also the most ridiculous rodeo in the west, which means we fully encourage the absurd, the unexpected, and the downright ridiculous. Rigorous research, titillating experiments, cold hard data, judged by Dr. York Smith (PhD, Bananalogy) against eight criteria — including Delightfully Strange and Least Use of AI.

The fair isn’t about passive observation, it’s about shared learning and participation. We invite groups, neighbors, and curious minds alike to start working on projects throughout the year, using the fair as a showcase for ongoing collaborations.

The Science Fair is a space where knowledge develops through hands-on engagement. There are no wrong ideas ~ just stuff we haven't played with yet.
